What is West Coast Swing?
West Coast Swing is a smooth partner dance performed in a slot — a straight line on
the dance floor. It works with nearly any music genre including pop, R&B, blues,
country, and hip-hop, and is built on strong partner connection, timing, and musicality.
It is one of the most versatile social dances you can learn and has a large competitive
circuit through the World Swing Dance Council (WSDC).
What styles of swing dance do you teach in Salt Lake City?
SwingInUtah teaches West Coast Swing, Country Swing, Rodeo Swing, and Modern Country
Swing. All programs are taught at DF Dance Studio, 2978 S State St, South Salt Lake —
easily accessible from Salt Lake City, Murray, and Millcreek. Each style has its own
structured beginner-to-advanced class path.
Are beginners welcome at SwingInUtah?
Yes — SwingInUtah is designed for adults starting from zero. Intro classes and
beginner bootcamps teach timing, basic patterns, and lead-follow connection in a
welcoming, no-pressure environment. No dance experience or partner is needed to
get started.
Do I need a partner for swing classes?
No. Most swing classes rotate partners, so you can come on your own. Partner rotation
is encouraged because it helps you become a stronger dancer faster by adapting to
different leads and follows. Couples are also welcome and can choose to rotate
or stay together.

How many lessons do we need to prepare for our first dance?

2–3 months before your wedding gives you enough time to learn, practice, and enjoy
the process without stress. Reach out to discuss your timeline and song choice.
